Plate 86. Stoneware plate with ribbed rim, partially glazed with apple wood ash. 13.5 inches diameter. Glazing with different wood ashes mixed with water yields different and beautiful results. This technique recalls the primitive kiln glazing effects when firing ash would settle on pots and then melt.
