Plate 96. Shallow bowl with white slip design under celadon glaze with temmoku on the rim. 7.5 inches diameter. The word “celadon,” used to denote the green, jade-like Chinese glaze, apparently derives from the name of a famous 18th century French actor whose trademark was a bright green cloak.

Plate 97. Plate with unglazed, ribbed rim; temmoku underglaze with wax resist design and celadon overglaze. 9 inches diameter.

Plate 98. Wide mouth vase form; white slip with heavily reduced salt glazing. 7 inches high; 8.5 inches wide.
